TRAVEL RESOURCES

On this page, I will share all the sites I use to plan my trip and answer some common questions about traveling solo. I hope it helps.

BOOKING.COM

This is my go-to place when it comes to hotels and apartments. As I run away from Airbnb because of their high fees, I find more and more amazing apartments on booking.com.

EXPEDIA

Expedia is great also for Hotels, apartments, and most of all packages with flights or flights only sometimes. If you play around on the site you may find great deals

VRBO

GOING (flights)

I would recommend checking on Going (former Scott Cheap Flights) for amazing deals, if you are leaving from the US. Otherwise I use Google flights and then book directly on the airline site.

DISCOVER CARS

Road trips are my favorite way to explore a destination! Anywhere I go I rent a car and drive at my own pace looking for secret places and great landscapes to photograph.

Discover cars allow you to compare prices among different companies and find the best deals. They also offer affordable full coverage.

Visit Site

VIATOR

I found Viator a very efficient way to find tours in one place and compare, read reviews, and book your spot. Also, many tours have a free cancellation policy which is very convenient if you need to change plans.

GET YOUR GUIDE

Get Your Guide is equal to VIATOR sometimes I use both and pick the tour I like the most or the one with the best reviews. Usually, Get Your Guide works better in Europe.

MANAWA

Manawa is a new site that I found for tours in Norway and Svalbard especially. I haven’t tried it yet but I will do it soon.

I consider SafetyWing the Best Health Travel Insurance for Long-Term Travelers—Now, you can also add insurance for adventurous activities and electronics. You can check my full review of SafetyWing travel Insurance here as well.

TRAVEL INSURANCE MASTER

Travel Insurance Master is a great tool. It works as an aggregator and allows you to filter the perfect insurance for your needs and profile. You just need to add the information requested in the form and wait for the results with prices and inclusions. Travel Insurance master is not a travel insurance per se, but a tool that allows you to pull out the best insurance for you.

DIVE ASSURE

Dive assure is the most popular insurance for divers but NOT ONLY. You can select the box to exclude diving if you are not a diver and get a discounted quote for full coverage. It’s great to cover expensive trips because depending on the amount you want to cover you get a different quote. It may be more expensive but it gives you peace of mind.

Solo travel FAQ

You asked and I answered! Find here below my answer to the most common questions about traveling solo!

Think about a place where you have always wanted to go, check out hotel and flight rates first. If you have the budget start planning, check out blogs and tour guides, and draw an itinerary.

Generally, I don’t see any difference, things can happen whether you are traveling solo or with somebody. Of course, as a solo female, you need to be extra careful and follow some common sense rules which I will talk about in my detailed post.

There are many ways to connect with other travelers, you can join local Facebook groups, or go on a tour for example.

I don’t usually seek friendship when I travel. I have my own friend which I stay connected with remotely and I don’t have the need to make more friends. However, if I want to socialize, I join tours or connect with locals when I go on a hike or in a cafe’. Or I join Facebook Groups that are related to travelers of that specific destination.

There is no age for solo traveling. I did it when I was in my 20s and I am doing it now that I am in my 50s and I will continue to do it until I feel like it.

The ones that I have mentioned in this post, above this section.

It depends. I never get bored when I am by myself because I have a lot of interests and I work online too. So when I finish exploring for the day, I either sit and work, read a book, or watch Netflix. So no, I never get bored in my company.

I try to stay healthy but accident happens. I travel with my own homeopathic medicine and if they are not enough I consult a local doctor or I go to the emergency room, depending on the issue.

I wear comfortable clothes, try to eat lightly before and during the flight, and drink a lot of water. I also bring a good book and earpods.

Nowadays there are so many remote job opportunities that allow you to work while you travel. I am a travel blogger so I make money from my sites but the sky is the limit.
